The Social Side of Superbowl Ads

The Superbowl is the talk of the town, quite literally for us as we are located right in the heart of Seattle! 12th man flags are flying outside our office windows, and we couldn’t be more excited for Sunday. While football is of course the main attraction for us Seahawks fans, the Superbowl ads may be what dominate social media buzz surrounding the big game.

We are already seeing ads being shared on Facebook (Anna Kendrick’s Newcastle ad, anyone?), and the hype is sure to ramp up as we move closer to Sunday. Fans will of course be live tweeting the game, as 41.2% of viewers report that they will be on social media for most if not all of the Superbowl. But it’s also estimated that a whopping 67.4% percent of viewers will be posting about Super Bowl ads during the game as well. With the ease of sharing via social media, popular ads are likely to go viral, and brands will definitely be getting the most of those advertising dollars.
