The Mobile Landscape for 2014 [Infographic]

Smartphone addiction is a real thing, folks. How much time do you really spend on your phone? All those scrolls through Instagram add up throughout the day. According to this infographic by WebDAM, the average user spends two hours on their phone per day! For marketers, that’s another two hour window of opportunity we now have to capture our audience’s attention. Easier said than done.

Many small businesses are jumping on the mobile marketing bandwagon, but many are also moving too fast before all the necessary items are in place. First things first, is your website’s content optimized for mobile? If a user has to zoom in and out, chances are they are gong to skip over your site.

In the United States and abroad, there is a growing number of people who exclusively use their smartphones to access the Internet. Also, “push notifications” are being widely adopted and accepted by consumers with 50% higher open rates than email. What mobile marketing boils down to is speed and ease. The Web 2.0 generation is an impatient one, and we want it faster, richer and smaller, and we want it now.
