The 80-20 Rule and What It Means for Your Business

To sell or not to sell… that is the question, especially as it applies to online marketing. On one hand, you want to make sure that you’re sharing your product or service in order to generate leads and produce sales. But on the other hand, you don’t want to seem too pushy or overly boastful on your blog and social media outlets. The answer lies in the 80-20 rule, otherwise known as the “Pareto Principle.”

The Pareto Principle states that “80 percent of your outcomes come from 20 percent of your inputs.” So you can take this to heart when planning content to share with your followers, making sure that 80% of what you are posting is customer focused, while only 20% is reserved for self promotion. Discover more about the 80-20 rule and how it applies to your business in this infographic from Visually.
