MEDIGO Infographic – Longer Life, Healthier Life?
According to the World Health Organization, the average lifespan of a human is currently about 72 years.
While this number continues to increase every year, humans are living longer but not necessarily healthier.
The WHO uses the Health Adjusted Life Expectancy (HALE) scale, which is the “average number of years that a person can expect to live in ‘full health’ by taking into account years lived in less than full health due to disease and/or injury.”
To understand HALE further, Medigo put together a country-by-country set of infographics that illustrate “bad health years” since 2000. They explain “when we deduct healthy life expectancy from actual life expectancy, we see the average amount of years someone can expect to live in bad health – or ‘Bad Health Years‘.”
