Foursquare Ads adds "self-serve" option to small businesses to promote local search

Foursquare announced a new “self-serve” advertising option for local businesses. The idea is to allow local businesses (say a French restaurant shown

in the example) to appear at the top of a search performed by a local user within Foursquare. Seems like a reasonable idea but we’re not sure how many people actually use the search function within Foursquare to find local options.

Foursquare is the app that helps people make the most of where they are and where they’re going, and a big part of that is helping them discover great local businesses. For years, we’ve offered a suite of free tools to help those businesses find new customers and connect with people nearby.
